Privacy policy

Effective

Promptrace is operated by Granite Digital. This policy explains what information the site collects when you use it, why it's collected, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and plain-English.

Accounts and personal data

Promptrace has no sign-up, no user accounts, and no login. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the prompt builder, the scorer, or the prompt library.

Prompts you type

Scoring happens entirely in your browser: the prompts you type into the scorer and the wizard are not sent to our servers.

If you use the "Tweak with AI" rewrite feature, the prompt text is sent to Google's Vertex AI (Gemini 2.5 Flash) through our server so it can be rewritten and returned to you. We do not store your prompt or the rewrite after the response is delivered. Google processes the request under its own terms; see Google Cloud's privacy documentation for details.

IP addresses and rate limiting

When you call the rewrite endpoint, we temporarily record your IP address in memory to enforce per-IP rate limits (to prevent abuse and keep the service free). These records are ephemeral and are not persisted to a database or shared with third parties.

Advertising

Promptrace carries no advertising. There are no ad units on any page, no ad network script loads in your browser, and no ad cookie is ever set. Nothing about your visit is shared with an advertising partner. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and the cookie banner will ask you about it first.

Analytics and hosting

The site is hosted on Firebase App Hosting (Google Cloud), which maintains standard server access logs (such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps) for security and operational purposes.

Where you have allowed analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit, which features they reach, and where they give up. It records the pages you view and a small set of interactions, such as choosing a category in the prompt builder, generating a prompt, copying one, or opening it in ChatGPT. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes your IP address to derive an approximate location. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4.

Your prompts are never sent to Google Analytics. No topic, subject, image description or pasted prompt leaves your browser as part of analytics. Where a measurement would otherwise include your text, we record only a derived number, for example how many characters long it was or what it scored. The same applies to the contact form: we record that a message was sent or failed, never its contents.

The simplest way to opt out is the Cookie settings link in the footer, which stops analytics for this site immediately. To opt out across every site you visit, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block analytics cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site is gated behind being measured.

Cookies

Promptrace itself does not set cookies. The only cookies that can be set are Google Analytics ones, which count visits and tell one session apart from another.

Analytics is off until you allow it. On your first visit a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies, and until you answer we set none and send no analytics data at all. Your choice is stored locally in your browser, not in a cookie and not on our servers, so it never leaves your device and we cannot see what you picked.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, and it costs you nothing: the prompt builder, the library and the scorer all work normally either way. If you clear your browser storage, the banner will ask again.

Links to third-party sites

The prompt builder and library include buttons that open third-party AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Ideogram, and others). Once you click through, you're subject to that provider's privacy policy. We have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, the content or practices of those services.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or similar laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing. Because Promptrace does not operate user accounts and does not persist prompts, IP addresses, or other identifiers beyond the short-lived rate-limit window, we typically hold no personal data tied to an individual. If you believe we do hold data relating to you, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
